Born into the illustrious Awosika family. Educated in Nigeria, UK and the United States, Professor Awosika is Rector/Founding CEO of Olawoyin Awosika School of Innovative Studies (OASIS) which is both an Innovative Enterprise Institution offering ONDs, and an educational technology provider; A Professor of Business (Finance and Economics), a former Vice President and Dean of Academics and former Special Assistant to the President for Assessment and Strategic Planning at Montreat College in North Carolina. Her positions allowed her to work with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which is perhaps the toughest accrediting agency in North America.
She brings to the table an intrinsic knowledge of what it means to work in a high pressured environment and the challenges faced in day-to-day management across different spheres. Abby’s cross-cultural working experience has taken her to the USA, the UK, China, South Korea, Europe, East Africa, South Africa, UAE, and Nigeria to name a few. Abiola’s career in Education, Business and Management, gives her a deep knowledge of what it takes to help professionals learn and apply learning to businesses and other institutions. Two of her books – Business Made Easy and Business and Career Planning are used by some American schools and businesses.
Prof is obviously an academic, and a higher education administrator. She is versed in the online and brick and mortar educational processes (Teaching, Learning, Accreditation, Quality Assurance, etc). She has over 25 years’ experience in this field with connections in and outside the country which gives her access to quality resource people. She is a good manager of people and a leader. She has spent the last seven years working in the education industry in Nigeria. She is not new to the issues and concerns of the people of Nigeria especially when it comes to Education. She is a regular commentator and expert voice on Channels TV and LTV, Guardian, Punch and Sun newspapers on current affairs, economics, and education. She has worked with several groups of Nigerian education reformers who are passionate about the condition of education in Nigeria, including the NESG, Education Reform Team and the Education Hub. These are world class resource people to which she has access.
Professor Abby, as her students fondly refer to her has almost three decades of teaching experience at tertiary level under her belt. She has a vast experience in designing online and Hybrid courses for numerous platforms including Blackboard, Moodle, D2L and of course VigiLearn which she helped to design and develop. She has been teaching and designing courses in the ODL environment since 1997. She continues to design and teach online courses for Liberty University, Lynchburg Virginia, USA, and of course her own school OASIS in Nigeria.
Professor Awosika has been working with some of Nigeria’s leading universities including Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, to train and design courses for their ODL programmes. She has trained hundreds of Nigerian lecturers, administrators and multimedia/ICT staff on the philosophy and techniques of eLearning, across these universities including NOUN.
A celebrated woman of excellence, Abiola has won many awards for her work, and has helped to train, develop, and grow many businesses.
